Téa Braun, Chief Executive of the Human Dignity Trust

The Human Dignity Trust is the only organisation working globally to eradicate laws that criminalise LGBT people and to address the broader human rights violations those laws enable. We provide technical legal and communications assistance to local partners including litigants, lawyers, human rights defenders and governments.

Since 2011, the Trust has helped drive litigation and legal reform in 20 countries, unlocking over £22 million in pro bono legal support from leading international law firms and top barristers. To date, an estimated 16.5 million LGBT people have had their rights upheld as a result of the Trust’s legal interventions.

The Human Dignity Trust is honoured to be recognised alongside a distinguished group of nominees for this year’s award, including Switchboard LGBTQIA+ Support Line, Schools OUT UK, HOMOPARODY Queer Collective, Lesbian Island, and Tonic Housing Association Limited.

In 65 countries there are still laws criminalising LGBT people which fuel stigma, legitimise prejudice and encourage violence. The Human Dignity Trust exists to change this. Your donation will help us support activists around the world to bravely challenge these discriminatory laws. Together, we can bring forward the day when no one is criminalised because of who they are or who they love.
