As a founding member of the UK Alliance for Global Equality (The UK Alliance), the Human Dignity Trust is proud to celebrate this year’s UK Black Pride. Held on 7 July, UK Black Pride is Europe’s largest celebration for LGBT+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American descent.

The UK Alliance is a coalition of UK-based civil society organisations working together to promote and support progress on global LGBT+ rights. We are honoured to count UK Black Pride as one of our members and to mark its valuable and exciting work.

The UK Alliance’s Co-chair Alistair Stewart said, “We are incredibly proud to celebrate UK Black Pride this year, with our shared vision of a world where everyone can participate fully in their society, whatever their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.”

UK Black Pride is a safe space to celebrate diverse sexualities, gender identities, cultures, gender expressions and backgrounds and fosters, represents and celebrates the culture of Black LGBT+ and Queer, Trans and Intersex People of Colour through education, the arts, cultural events and advocacy. Importantly, UK Black Pride promotes unity and cooperation among LGBT+ people of diasporic communities in the UK, as well as their friends and families.

Beyond their annual celebration, UK Black Pride undertakes a variety of activities throughout the year in and around the UK, which also promote and advocate for the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual health and wellbeing of the communities they represent.

The UK Alliance believes in strength in diversity, in our work, in our communities and in the world at large. We believe that it is only through bringing together many organisations, that represent diverse communities and deploy a varied set of tools and tactics, that sustainable positive change can be achieved for our communities in the UK and beyond.
