Charles is part of our Changing Laws Changing Lives legislative reform programme team, specifically managing projects aimed at providing technical assistance to government and civil society partners. He has specialised in gender and human rights, especially the rights of people of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities, and the protection of human rights defenders at risk. Charles is driven by his commitment to make a difference for the rights of the most marginalised people.

Charles previously worked for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Senegal, as part of the Gender & Youth Unit, contributing to the protection and promotion of the rights of vulnerable groups. Charles also worked at Equitas – International Centre for Human Rights Education in Canada, providing logistical support and developing educational materials for international human rights training.

Charles holds a European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation from the Global Campus of Human Rights (Venice, Italy) and a BA in Political Science and International Relations from Université du Québec à Montréal.
